    Walman was our #2 defenseman and NOBODY was taking about something happened to Walman's motivation after the first of the year. Here are a couple of abnormalities that I recognized: -He gave up on a 2 on 1 near the end of a period goal scored. I commented to a friend, why was he on his heels coasting? -He toe picked and went head first into his own net and was never the same. -He had only 1 assist in his last 31 games! -He only had 42 hits in 63 games for a defenseman is not normal. But he had a respectable amount of blocked shots. Assumption: He was playing hurt and perhaps management felt he could play through it or there was tension there and the two parties expectations were far apart. Also wth happened with Klim Kostin $2 million player who didn't suit up vs Florida got our ass kicked and Klim was given away. *Jury is out on Steve not Stevie anymore. He drafts well and his free agency acquisitions favoring veterans over over ripe players in the minors is very suspect. -

    Future considerations could mean anything. I realize it generally means that it amounts to nothing, but do we know? SY is not stupid. There's more to this trade that hasn't been divulged yet. That would be my guess anyway.

Have to pass on the Guy. Absolutely Batshit Crazy Nonsense... Fucking Pissed. Only Explanation is if Walman has an undisclosed injury/medical condition

    This team is doomed. Larkin is made of glass. Raymond and Seider are going to demand super star pay and they dont deserve it yet. Copp, Petry, Holl.. Yzerman isn't a god. He obviously got lucky in Tampa with good picks and its entirely possible hes not the best GM that we thought he was.

    Andrew Gibson was a second round pick last draft and if Jake Walman had no value that you add a second round pick. That’s means the other defenseman can’t be traded unless you give up more then a second round pick and Andrew Copp also likely won’t be traded. David Perron better not be signed for 3 million. Yzerman will be fired when they miss the playoffs again because of is terrible free agent signings.

    Supposedly from what ive heard, Wallman lost trust in Newsys system and thats why he was healthy scratched, cant say I blame him, Newsy scheme is garbage, this Yzerman and Newsy relationship is reminding me a lot of Bob Quinns and Matt Patricias relationship and if its going down that path, were screwed

    I will preface this by saying I don't get this move but I am waiting to see how it all plays out. That out of the way one thing I will defend Stevie on is I think we are putting a bit too much into the 2nd round pick given to SJ. If you think about it it was essentially the same as putting Walman on waivers. SJ clearly wanted a 2nd so DET swapped equal prospects with NSH so that's a wash and got a 2nd round pick so they could give it to SJ without giving them their own 2nd so really all we did was swap prospects and give Walman to SJ for free, now I do think we probably could have gotten at least a pick for Walman but I think we are putting to much into that 2nd round pick.

    • @wyattbarnes9641
      @wyattbarnes9641 10 часов назад

      No matter what, this trade sucks so you don’t really need to see how it plays out. Freeing up 3.4M in cap space is great but not at the expense of giving away a quality player and a pick for free.

    It's a tough pill to swallow as a fan of this team watching us give away 2 assets in Gibson and Walman to clear cap space when 25% of our cap is being used on our 5 worst players. Stevie's signings in 2022 and 2023 are having consequences now.

  • @davidclick5344
    @davidclick5344 20 часов назад

    One of the things I was happy about this offseason was that Steve didn't have a ton of money to go and get more Andrew Copps or Ben Chairots. Which would mean we are going to see some of these draft picks that we have accumulated for being one of the worst teams in the league over the last decade. So much for that. Now he can sign more meh to below meh free agents, and keep guys like Mazur in Grand Rapids, or <gasp> resign Ghost. Even lower expectations for this upcoming season. I also love, all of the Yzerfans tripping over themselves to throw Jake under the bus.

    Following the team closely its pretty clear they have very high expectations for Edvinsson and Johansson. It is definitely surprising Walman was cap dumped even though he was pretty bad for long streches last year. Yzerman essentially dumped Walman for Andrew Gibson so not really a big loss.

  • @billjohansson88
    @billjohansson88 22 часа назад

    Didn't see this one coming at all. However, perhaps we should not be surprised as it is Stevie. It could be that it is a three party deal that is split over several days because important dates during a LONG season are as it is now! The third part is either during draft day or 7/1. Could be for Saros (which I don't think is likely), could just as well be someone else of greater value on the open market (more likely for RW). Here, SJ is the recipient of a contract and a bonus to use their cap days before everything opens (the Wallman deal becomes more logical now). So, I don't think it's a pure cap dump at all for some of the RFA/UFA's we have to deal with. Wallman does not fit into such a role as his cap is too low. The NHL has approved the trade, so they know the reason why the deal looks the way it does "today". in conclusion, I don't think it's about personal chemistry when it comes to Wallman either, the basis is too small to even start speculating there.

    I truly hope I am wrong but the Walman move gives the impression of a player about to enter the Player Assistance Program. If that is the case and Walman would not have been on your roster anyway, the net result is you moved out $3.4M and traded one prospect for another. The second round pick came in and went out in the same day.

    The Yzerstans doing the craziest mental gymnastics to defend this move. This is the horrible asset management. I do think Brad is overly negative and critical at times, but agreed. Moving a 2nd made no sense. Like you said, throw him on waivers first before attaching a 2nd to get rid of his contract (which isn't even that bad).
